I spent the ride home from the badminton class in silence. It may have been the pressure of being the Company Chief or perhaps the fact that I lost the game towards Bugys but or some reason I had fallen into myself, and even though Johnny boy was behind me as usual, the normal chatter fell flat to the floor. Instead I spent the ride looking out, on nothing. My mind was somewhere else, and I let it stay there.

Not until we were closing in on the air base I noticed what was different. In the distance, just over the city a thick mass of cloud was forming. In front of it the sky was clear with the dusky blue of sunset, but the cloud itself was broad and thick and stretched to the horizon as far as I could see. Right then I knew where my mind had really been, because with the way it moved behind the trees on the side of the road it looked just like the mountains of Bosnia.
It was Srebrenica, in Halmstad.

The wonder. I had to lean forward and point it out to Susy in front of me, and she looked at me with a surprised look and exclaimed,
"No way! I was just about to say the same thing to you!"
Then we sat in silence and marveled at the brief visit of another world, as the ghost mountains of Srebrenica and Vares followed us back to the gate.

Because in my mind
there's a grayhound station
where I can send my thoughts
to far off destinations
so they may have a chance
of finding a place where they're
far more suited than here.

Oh, I assure you, I had NOTHING to do with the decoration of the place. I literally picked out the rug in the living room and the sconce/candle holder thingy you see to the right of the door.

This is all the work of the interior designer in the family, my mom. She just understands my taste and designed around that. And did awesome.
