Preparations for Burning Man 2005 continue...
Ridiculous things beget things which are even more ridiculous. I'm going through my gear and taking stock. What's useful and functional. What can be done to make things more useful or functional. What can be done to make those things more unique or artful. And of course, all on a shoestring budget (everything's going towards the camp).
I've just spent the last few hours painting things. The mini-backpack that holds my hydration system is getting painted. First with identifying icons - a chrome Space Island logo inside the flap, and tomorrow once that's dry I'll add a chrome angel and devil on the outside flap. Time permitting, I'll then go back and paint little accents and other bits. I also finished phase one of tricking out my gas mask. I painted it up tonight, looks very high tech and tribal all at once, with metallic red, pearlescent white, and metallic silver markings and designs all over it. And to top that off, I've spent several more hours reworking designs and costing out options for a shade structure.
Tomorrow I'll keep working on the gas mask - add a UV coating to certain bits, and then work on a few other ideas I had providing I can find the kind of materials I'm looking for on that sexy shoestring budget I was talking about. I've also got bins to sort through, lists to make, a couple pair of old pants to turn into something, and I need to get started on a project that's either turning an old leather jacket into a hardware, or turning hardware into an old leather jacket.
Okay, enough from me... I'm gonna go get some rest, then back to work. In the meantime, I'll share with you a mix set from my friend David Starfire. His web site is cool and has downloadable tracks, but this one isn't on the site. Check it out...
