The weekend was a lot of fun. Worked at Space Island on Friday to get things ready for Saturday, then got to hang out with Fractal on Saturday (we're pretty good friends, but geography conspires against us hanging out more regularly).
Then it was off to Space Island for the party. We got there ridiculously early (it hadn't even started yet), we wanted to make sure everything was set up and that things were ready to go. It all came together smoothly, and by midnight the "Gathering Of The Spirits" was in full swing. At one point, I think there was actually a 15 minute wait to get people in the door! The costumes were amazing, the people were fantastic (every party gets better and better crowds), and the music was unbelievable. Big thanks to everyone who made it out - including Seether, Wad, RoxyMonoxcide, Nonsense, Fraggle, Cineman, and Impboy for making it out. Bigger thanks go to SG Stormy and SG Pearl for coming by after performing an outstanding set at the SG Burlesque at the Wiltern then dealing with the show's after-party before making their way over - it would have been easy to just go home and crash at 4 something in the morning instead of coming by.
Of course Fractal and I were the greatest bartending team ever. We poured countless drinks and only blinded a few people, and that was only temporary.
Fractal made it to dawn, and I kept things going through the afterparty as well. As much fun as I have at the party, I think I like the after-party part even more. The mix of people is always a bit different, and in a smaller group there's a different social dynamic than when there are 500 people surrounding you.
I finally made it home around 5am this morning. Needless to say, work was a bit long and right now I'm feeling a bit exhausted. So I'll wrap up this update, finish transferring some pictures, finish up the load of laundry I've got in the machine, then get to bed at a reasonable hour (in theory).
