I've been forever without internet access at home, it seems. I've been trying to stay in touch with SG via occasional stealthy visits from work (which often means coming in early or staying late, ugh for all its own reasons). My new roommate Wad tells me that the DSL fuckers will have us live and direct on Monday, though at this point I'll believe it when I see it.
I write you now from a friend's place. Under normal circumstances I'd think that when a friend asks me to walk her dog and re-format and re-install everything on her computer while she's in Vegas for the weekend, I'd be a fool to sign up without getting some kind of serious compensation in return. But right now I'm thinking I'm the winner, I get to surf for a while. What a fucking dork I am lol...
But the new joint is coming along well. The place needs a proper name - for now Wad and I are just referring to it as the chateau. But it's pretty posh, as apartments go. The living room is 25 feet long, the patio is the size of a dining roo (and has tiki torches and an ocean view), the kitchen's fully equipped and has a bar, and I've got a half bathroom right in my bedroom. We're trying to deck the place out right, and balance the worlds of tech and comfort. We've got a ton of stereo gear, a couple home studios, a video editing workstation, and who knows how much computing power - but the goal is to have as social a space as possible. This location will play host to a lot of decadence and debauchery...
Everything was moved in last week, though still in boxes and such. Huge thanks to Seether and his roommate, Wad, RoxyMonoxcide, the co-host, and former member JayGray for their invaluable assistance along the way. I was traveling for work this week, so I haven't had much of a chance to get things unpacked. It's coming along, though, I expect things to be in good shape by the end of this weekend.
So we're circling on housewarming plans. The place is roomy, but we've both got fairly decent social circles and there's no way we can invite everyone we know over all at once. So my thinking is that we'll have a series of housewarmings. Thursday 7/22, Friday 7/23, and Saturday 7/24 are looking like ideal dates for at least the first round. If you're interested in attending, get in touch with me and let me know if one day works better for you than the others.
I'll write more later. Well, hopefully sooner than later, but you get the idea. I've already rambled quite a bit with this update, I'll save the rest of 'what I've been up to lately' for conversation when you all stop over for drinks

Glad you're digging your new place, man, but it does suck to be wothout internet access. I'm trying to get something together to come up the weekend of the 30th, just FYI. Be cool to see you, Dave, and Toxicboy, among others. That's the night of that additional LA burlesque show isn't it? I wonder if tics are sold out. I'll need to see how my cash holds out after this weekend.
