Somwhere in Los Angeles, at around 11am pacific time this morning, a nearly comatose rock star was stirred from unconsciousness and filled in on my Friday night. Upon hearing the tale, all he could say was "damn!" before passing the fuck out.
The plan was to work on music for a couple hours, and then check out The Mutaytor. LA traffic being what it is, the co-host and I had to postpone studio time. After some pre-game fun, we were off to Hollywood to check out the show. Along the way we realized that it would be best to have food in our stomachs, so insert fast food pit stop #1. Del Sparkle (long story). I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time.
Made it to the venue and slipped in the door. Big space, very cool. We were fashionably late, and wound up missing a good portion of DJ Wolfie's set. Had a hard time locating people, but then in no time it seemed that we ran into Maxx looking all suave, Bridget, Fu, PoopyDave, LTrain, SuperScott, Talia, Seether, and a couple other folks. The show was amazing, big ups to SG Pearl who was looking and performing better than ever.
After the Mutaytor gig was over, we hung out for a bit, then split from the main group to head to an after hours joint. Interesting crowd, as always, it was good to see some familiar faces, and great to hear some amazing tunes. Met some new people, and was up to all kinds of no good.
Dear Decadence - get over here, bitch!
So when the after hours starts winding down, we decide to carry it on to a friend's place not so far away. We lead a small caravan of vehicles to the location, where decadence is soon joined by debauchery.
In the process of all the drinking and partying, I must say I had some of the most amazing conversations about music in general, the music industry, and where things are headed. It was very inspiring creatively.
Around 8am things started to wind down and Talia and PoopyDave made their exit, while we decided to hang out a little longer and finish the job. More great conversation, and in the end every substance that could be abused... was.
It was shortly after 10 that we ended up making our way back west. Being smart enough to know that we needed to have something in our systems, we decided to make fast food pit stop #2. Del Turkey (another long story).
That's around the time our rock star friend made his comment. Our work was done, the only thing left to do at that point was crash (seeing as we'd passed up the invite to fly to Vegas for the remainder of the weekend).
Next up, studio time. Tonight will probably be low key - any attmempts to top last night would probably require human sacrifice.
