Holy fuck.
Where to begin. I suppose Friday night's the right place to start. The long work week is over, I'm ready to cut loose and get the birthday weekend going. My thinking here is that a solid Friday night would help get things warmed up for Saturday. Not many takers to that plan, so Seether, his roommate and I took to Miss Kitty's. A weird and random evening. Since this will be a long update I'll gloss over the details... Lots of drinks, lots of dancing (and with a hot german girl too, woohoo), and getting dragged on stage where I (along with a few other victims/volunteers) wound up on all fours getting paddled. a fairly crazy and random night to be sure.
Saturday daytime was spent hanging out with Seether and Bridget, hitting shops and people watching on Melrose. Afterwards I headed home, grabbing a pomegranate smoothie from Robek's. Damn, those things are good.
Saturday night rolls up and plans had been made. PoopyDave wound up bieng my ride, but due to unforeseen circumstances we wound up incredibly late. Arrived in Hollywood to a really large crowd of awesome people who turned out for the evening. Fortunately we weren't the last to arrive, so after a few minutes of additional waiting and saying hello we were off on a drunken stumble (at least in my case) to the metro station.
Every few minutes I felt the sting of someone cracking my backside with a ruler, but I couldn't figure out who was behind it. As we waited what seemed like forever for the subway, I figured out that there was more than one ruler in play. Yes, as it turns out, someone had distributed rulers to the crowd (see my pics to see the rulers). I later would learn that this was masterminded by DCLXVI.
It was pretty hilarious, we pretty much owned most of one of the subway cars. Unfortunately, there was a delay and our ride took much longer than expected. We emerged at Union Station all disorientated lol, and managed to take the long way to the Blue Bongo. We finally made it to find another couple dozen people already on hand. It was difficult to keep generous friends who were trying to buy me drinks at bay until I could get some food into my system.
Decadence, debauchery, and photo opportunities abound, I was really overwhelmed at the turnout. When I saw the RSVP list growing and growing I figured that my birthday was simply a convenient excuse for a lot of people to go out and party on a Saturday night, but everyone really had gone all out.
After having dinner with the lovely Pearl (have as many garlic fries as you want, as long as I'm around you won't have to worry about nobody wanting to make out with ya
), the dancefloor started to come alive. Pearl got her hoop on (see my pics) while Porter Tinsley played a great set.
More decadence, more debauchery... I think the original plan called for multiple stops after dinner, but the vibe at the Bongo was great, and with the late start it made more sense to put in more time there than to hit some of the other venues. Designated pimp Pixxie was up to something, I could tell. She kept pulling some of the other girls aside to have private conversations that she wouldn't let me in on, and I heard something about electrical tape
At some point, it was time to move the party on to Dungeon, where a few others were already waiting to join the fun. Many more drinks, more dancing, more socializing, it was amazing. At one point, I'm led to the dance floor, and people pull my shirt off. I look around to see what's going on and suddenly I'm surrounded by a number of amazingly beautiful women, all of which are topless save for some strategically placed bits of electrical tape. Brings new meaning to the term bumping and grinding on the dance floor, seriously...
All through the night, Jerawyn was snapping pics with her Polaroid camera, and looked like she was filing them away or something. I was shocked and amazed to learn that at the end of the evening she handed me a photo album. She had been taking all these pics, then mounting them and collecting notes and stuff from the various people who attended throughout the whole night, and handed me the finished project right then and there. That's so awesome!
As the club wrapped up, people started to split and go their separate ways. Lost track of a couple people, and then was suddenly made aware that there was a group of people headed to my place for post-game fun. Had to go back to the club to close out my tab, then catch up to what turned out to be a rather large group of people waiting out in front of my apartment building. I love hanging out with these people, but my apartment is wee. Nonetheless, it was on - more drinks, some snacks, and great conversation, and as the crowd thinned out there was even more decadence and debauchery...
Things wrapped around 8ish this morning. The only real downsides were that the designated illustrator plan didn't work out (maybe some other time), and my apartment manager had gotten some noise complaints (d'oh!), but I think she was on edge because there had been some vandalism in the complex earlier in the evening (I'd be pissed off too).
Today was all about recuperation and cleanup, then taking in The Sopranos (finally the new season!) and then Curb Your Enthusiasm... I don't watch much TV these days, but those shows are kind of a guilty pleasure.
Pics are up in my pics, and as soon as I get a chance I'll try to get the photo album scanned. This has got to be the best birthday I've ever had...
I love everyone - fuck you all!

-Sorry about the illustrator, there's no way I could have pulled it off, I barely even drank as much as I thought I was going to and I was asleep by the time we hit Dungeon. Yeah, another time.
