It's been a strange couple days, but things are hopefully returning to normal.
Tuesday night Seether hooked me up with the BPM magazine release party (BPM is a DJ/dance music magazine). He and his roommate picked me up and we slipped on down to the Garden Of Eden (very posh place), met some very cool people, and enjoyed a blistering set of funky house music and even a few straight up party tracks from DJ Rap (I've been a fan of hers since 97 or 98, and have enjoyed pretty much everything she's done). Three solid hours of great stuff, seriously. I'll hopefully get a pic or two posted shortly.
The cable and internet were out when I got home, a call to the company and while they will try to get it fixed electronically, they say it may take until Monday to restore service. Ugh.
Wednesday was destined to be grueling, after less than three hours sleep. My assistant at work had been out on Monday afternoon and all of Tuesday, so I figured if I made it through the end of Tuesday all would be downhill from there. Nope. Computer problems ate up half the morning, plus it was just a busy day overall. For everything I seemed to get accomplished, two more things made it onto the list. I was determined to get things done before I left, though, so I stuck around until almost 10. The only real bright spot in the day is that the girl I mentioned in my last entry and I have made plans to see Monster on Thursday night.
Of course, it's raining heavily (a rare occurrence in LA for any kind of rain, I've only seen it really come down twice since I moved here in October 2002). Traffic is light, but moving slow. The roads are a bit dodgy. I take it easy and make it home uneventfully (though I did pass a few sizable wrecks and spinouts), only to find a pink tag on my apartment door. My electricity has been switched off.
What? I fumble around in the dark, and after locating a flashlight manage to get the number to call. Oh yeah, no power. Cordless phone isn't going to help. I live in a veritable Bermuda triangle of mobile coverage, so I grab my cell and go wandering around in the rain trying to find a strong enough signal to start making calls. Um, it was done by request? WTF? I have to come down during business hours and get it sorted out (dear refrigerator, try not to smell bad when I throw out all the spoiled food in the morning...). Great, I'll be late for work while I sort this crap out.
Well, the stove is gas, I can make a little something to eat and then sort things out in the morning. But the stove doesn't work. Dealing with the rain once again, I get a signal and learn that my gas was also off. It wasn't cut off, but a request was made by someone to discontinue service. Then it hits me, my cable, my electricity, and my gas are all off within 24 hours. Another call - my home phone's out too. I call work to leave a message for my boss that I'll be out today dealing with getting everything turned back on. This has got to be the most twisted prank out there.
By late Thursday afternoon I've managed to get everything squared away, though cable and internet will likely take until Monday. I don't mind so much with the cable since I don't watch that much TV these days, but the internet connection is my addiction. I can certainly make do with what I've got - that doesn't mean I'm happy about it.
Thursday night ended up being lower key, we traded in the plan for hitting the movies and instead rented something and stayed in.
And at this point it's just a matter of setting up the time with MissMisha. Odds are it'll have to wait another week or two, we'll see...
My birthday's coming up on Saturday, March 6th. To mix things up and have a little fun with the date, I've appointed a designated brain, a designated photographer,
a designated illustrator, and a designated pimp. It should be an interesting evening, to say the very least.

Last night was a ton of fun, thanks for adding to the insanity.

**Hahaa--it knows me so well!
Here's another fun thing...
Bubblewrap...the "manic" setting is recommended for frustrating days.
