Time for an update. First off, I'd like to say that today just might be fucking perfect. Well, weather-wise. Earlier I was sitting outside... bright and sunny (though I was in a shady spot), the sky a wonderful deep blue, just all sorts of awesome.
Friday was another rough day at work. I'll spare the details, since you all know what a rough day at work is (it's not like my days are any rougher than anyone else anyways... you get the idea). So when the day drew to a close and I hit the highway, I was ecstatic if only for a few days' escape. I had a few friends over for pre-game fun before heading to Miss Kitty's. I think one of my favorite memories is riding in the car with PoopyDave, Toxicboy, and Pixxie through the streets of Hollywood with the windows down, stereo pumping and us singing/screaming along the words to Ready, Steady, Go, Mirror In The Bathroom, and Beat My Guest. Found fairly convenient street parking, and made our way into a very packed club (they were celebrating their 2-year). Also ran into LTrain, reprobate, and ilya. For a while I'd say it was too packed, but fortunately it eased up and there was room to move after a bit. Highlight of the night's surrealism... I somehow got roped into participating in some on-stage shenanigans, and now get in free for life! There was some post-game fun, too, and managed to get connected back up with some separated friends (who ran into a few other friends at another club down the street), all in all a great night and total cure to my recent anti-social behavior.
Then yesterday was my site birthday/strip club shindig (basically, I used the occasion of me being here for a year to rally people all get together and have fun). Hung out with Voltaire for a bit during the day, then headed over to PoopyDave's to hang out and watch some music videos (the directors' collections). The Bjork video with the robots, seriously, hott (two t's are intentional, it went beyond hot). I'd seen it before, but damn.
At this point I have to say I'm gonna be a lame-ass in the link dept. I'll also be a slouch in the name-dropping department - too many to mention and I know I'll forget someone.
Pre-game fun at a friend's place with pixxie and nonsense and fraggle and fu and bean and shalome. If the first drink of the evening is any indication, I started things off with a glass of Ketel One. Holy fuck! I drink often, but I enjoy a fairly low threshold of feeling my beverage. I rarely drink straight alcohol, but the planets must have been lined up properly, because it totally worked hehe. Then we headed to the club just in time to run into what seemed like a dozen others. I was kind of playing traffic coordinator, so I bounced in and out a few times throughout the evening. To sum things up, I met a bunch of cool new people, got to hang out with some really great friends, the club was all sorts of cool, and there were many beautiful and talented dancers. Star among them of course is Voltaire. Yeah I'm biased because she's my friend, but seriously - she's hot and talented and has some incredible routines... I think everyone who showed up had a great time.
The post-game plans were hilarious, a sort of comedy of errors. Nobody was home at the place we were supposed to go, so we headed back to my place (being spotted by police helicopters, apparently our little caravan drew some attention). More hanging out, drinking, hilarity, etc followed. Watched the new year's video again, then a few episodes of the Young Ones before dawn signaled time to crash.
Cleanup was fairly easy (mostly throwing away empty booze bottles, my liquor cabinet's nearly empty lol), and aside from a scratch on my PowerBook's keyboard everything's peachy. I only wish my apartment were bigger so that I could have more people over on a regular basis.
OK, I'm off. Need more rest, need to do some things around here and at least pretend that I'm a bit productive. Never gonna be able to make those aspirations happen if I don't work at it....
