My happiest memory

Good morning! I saw SG wants us to write about our happiest memory. I’m fortunate to have a photo of the exact moment! this is my happiest memory, although it didn’t feel like it at the time. At the time I was stressed, it was surreal, I remember texting my mother for support as I drove a whole country away from her. She said “take pictures” of what? I asked. “Everything, you’ll look back so fondly of this growth” she was right. I didn’t know it right then but when I drove across the country I restarted my life and am no where near the girl in this car. I talk about this moment a lot, it was a milestone. This photo has a silly snapchat filter…but that little truck? It holds all my belongings. My car smells like dog breath, and will never recover. That flat horizon bloomed massive mountains. I’ve changed my body. I’ve fed my mind. Every star in that sky are tears on the road, but there’s day light ahead.

This was me moving away from home. This is me making my own path. This is how I got here. This is the start and I have so so so much more. I love this moment.

There's a really special song, perhaps you've heard of it, it's by Still Corners - The Message.  This image totally resonates with me and this song, because we're all on a road, some roads are nicely paved, some are straight, some wind up and down tumultuous hills, valleys, and mountains.  Some of our roads get washed out and we have to stop and take a moment to reflect.  But the fact remains, we're all on a road... some can see their destination off in the distance - some merely want to feel the wind blow through their hair as they ride.  This analogy I just made up, it doesn't really have a particular meaning, but your photo really hit home for me.  My favourite thing to do is get in my Ford Fiesta and drive the highway here in Nova Scotia - not to go anywhere in particular, but to just be present in the moment on the road and see what's happenin'.  Thanks for sharing this treasure of yours Trilla!

They say it’s the journey right? Not the destination 😉👏
