ps, I'm going to go as a bee for halloween and I'm buying a strapon as my stinger. And also, I talked to some bee keepers tonight and they were pretty cool.

Friday:
kick off to Queer Identities Week with a drag burlesque show. It was pretty awesome. My plans fell through so I went alone and met a guy who was by himself. We shared 3 pitchers of Strongbow (apple cider) and I have another bottle to booze it up. Keeping in mind that I DON'T DRINK. I got drunk really quickly. I danced a lot...

Sorry to be so short on the IM but I had a billion things going on PLUS I had the program running at work. I came in today to see about half of what you typed to me on my screen here. Strange things these computers are.

I got wasted last night on apple cider and smirnoff ice and danced with a drag belly dancer. There's a very big level of disconnect through the night I think.

I guess though that it was a lot safer than it could have been.

The Slackers in Toronto tonight. Yessss.

The Slackers in Guelph tomorrow night. Yessss.

Good news: I'm hungry.

bad news: I think...

I just had a really fucked up dream and in it my sister was trying to kill me by stepping on my chest. And then she morphed into a guy who she said had violently attacked her. And THEN as if that wasn't weird enough, we were in my grandmother's house and I got free and went to the airport.

it was pretty scary.

okay so university sucks. I'm going totally mental here. And I'm paying for this?!

here's the deal. I'm at university outside of Toronto. And apparently I'm a huge city snob and can't deal with this being a 'small town' or whatever. So now I have this problem of like. hating everything here. And subconsciously I'm sabatoging everything by being all depressed like.

there are a...

i don't want to sound like this wise old man here (well, fuck the old part at least), but i went through the same thing. for reasons I still don't understand, I went to Western for a few years straight out of high school. holy shit -- private school kids and a student government that was a feeder system for the Progressive Conservatives... sucked.

anyway, this is what I figured out: it forced me to figure out what I wanted and to find the people who were into that, a distinct minority but they were out there. being out of your element is good sometimes, especially in the first few years of university.

just an opinion.

I know Guelph ain't no cultural mecca, but hang in there, Kiddo! Brock University was the first post-secondary institution I attended, and I absolutely HATED it at first. I spent the first semester mostly in isolation with a virtually non-existent social life, resenting all my hometown friends who were attending other schools together. By the time second semester rolled around, things changed completely. I behaved more like the typical frosh kid, and was out partying every week-end till 3am/4am. The more I went out, the more friends I made. I still thought St.Kitts was a hole, but the relationships and opportunities I forged during this period seemed to make the general shitiness of the region disappear. I was in tears the day I left St.Kitts because I knew I wasn't going back to Brock, and I was so upset about leaving the circle of friends I became integrated with.

Anyway, I'm not trying to tell you to party all the time and forget about the expensive education you're pursuing. Just keep your eye out for local events that may interest you. Joining a campus club/organization is a great starting point to meet new people with similar interests, and to become involved in various social activities. Once you start doing this, you'll probably find other kids who are all also in your situation. When I was at Guelph, I volunteered at CFRU and GQE, and met lots of great people through both!

Good luck hon, and don't get too bumbed out! kiss

okay. So honestly. Toronto this weekend was totally what I needed. And the fact that I'm staying in Guelph next weekend sort of creeps me out. But I might have a sexy visitor!

oh lordy. I need more sexy visitors.

Sunday night / Monday morning was worth coming into Toronto. That's right.

Hey,
I live just west of Kitchener.
Guelph is lots of fun, we go there every once in awhile for the night life.
Those bars the others mentioned are great.

Enjoy
