I forgot to tell you guys that I started taking Zoloft a few months ago. I started it because I was having really bad anxiety attacks, but it's done wonders for me in other ways. Since I have been taking it I feel more confident, more focused, and more like I want to get things done. Stress isn't as much of an obstacle for me now, whereas before I would generally give up on things at the first sign of stress. The only real downer is that I've abandoned most forms of recreation in lieu of doing productive things. Sorry, WoW friends!

It is nice that I legitimately care about school now though. I'm really trying to prepare myself for grad school in economics. It's a long ways off, but I'm shooting for UC Berkeley, UCLA, Caltech, or UCSD. USC and University of Washington are going to be my safety schools, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get into either of those, hopefully with funding. I also decided to graduate a semester later than I had originally anticipated (fall of 2011 rather than spring of 2011). By doing that I can 1) pick up a double major in applied math, 2) Not have to overload myself with courses and 3) Apply to grad school after writing a thesis rather than applying to grad school and saying "Hey, I'm writing a thesis next spring, it's gonna be awesome." After playing with my class schedule I realized that it wouldn't be incredibly difficult to get the classes I'd need to graduate with honors, so that's why I'll be writing a thesis. I'm pretty excited about it, I have a few ideas already. Have any of you done a thesis? If so, what was your experience like?

Oh, I also got a blue 10-inch ASUS Eee PC 1000HE netbook. I really didn't think I'd like it very much, but it's oh so awesome for school, as well as for dicking around on time wasting websites. It's practically replaced my desktop. I especially like the bluetooth Microsoft mouse that I picked up to go with it. I also had doubts about the mouse: I've been a Logitech person for a long time after some bad experiences with a wireless Microsoft mouse, but apparently Logitech doesn't make a bluetooth mouse with back and forward buttons. They have a couple usb wireless mice, but I don't like having to keep up with that usb dongle. Anyways, the Microsoft bluetooth mouse is great. I've had it for nearly a month and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. Because it is designed to be used for presentations, it has a built-in laser pointer, which is odd for a mouse but fun because no one expects a mouse to have a laser pointer.

So there you go, a real update! How's everyone doing?
