Not too bad actually, the only thing that has been a problem for us, is if people have soap or detergent on their suits, it will throw chemicals off balance. So that just means anyone that wants to go in our hot tub has to be nakkies. 
Really, though, I would recommend you use "bromine" instead of chlorine, it's much nicer. (no smell) Hope that helps.
