I just spent a few hours doing something I never do, and long said I had no interest in doing. I met an old high school friend for ice cream and drinks and had a great time catching up and flirtingly admitting we had crushes on each other 16 or 17 years ago. We've both traveled and lived abroad more than once. We both have careers but are unemployed and, for some reason, getting our shit together briefly in Bellingham instead of where we live -- me, Seattle, her, New York. There were lots of little touches and funny jokes based on stuff we had in common and maybe she's gained a little weight but who hasn't? and she's still really pretty.

However, she has a boyfriend so I was a perfect gentleman. Something for which I'd like to punch myself in the face for at the moment, but can't change the past. I tied one on pretty swell last night, and the two beers I had turned me into a pumpkin, so I wasn't my normal suave self anyhow.

Speaking of which, I am sleepy. Maybe I'll get to bed before 4 am for the first time this week.
