Wow. After a day struggling with aimlessness and a depressed sense that I can't accomplish what goals I do have, I just got some tentatively great news. News that there may be great news. Whatever. I don't want to shlap the nachas, but I've long wanted to do humanitarian work or volunteering, and may be able to do it in at least one way that...

Why do I stay up past my bedtime every single night? Honestly, I think it's a -- I dunno, an indication of a deep mental issue.

Anyhow, I've been listening to a lot of Julia Nunes' songs on youtube. Especially this one:

I feel like I'm the last person on earth to have heard of her, so feel free to move along if you have....

I just spent a few hours doing something I never do, and long said I had no interest in doing. I met an old high school friend for ice cream and drinks and had a great time catching up and flirtingly admitting we had crushes on each other 16 or 17 years ago. We've both traveled and lived abroad more than once. We both have...

Wow, it's so windy the house is shaking. If It weren't two in the morning and I didn't have to get up in 5 hours, I'd walk down to the water to get sprayed by waves.

Edited to add: This is the second night in a row a cat has sat down on my lap right as I'd decided to get up and go to...

I'm spending some time in my home town, Bellingham, Washington, while I work out some USCG licensing so I can go back to sea. What this means practically is that I've spent every night this week drinking till bar close with old friends. Which is excellent and has improved my mood a lot. The last couple of icy, deserted, alcoholic nights, I've taken my drunken...

I can't wait to get my arse over to Australia after University. Epic weather all the time. It may take a while for me to get over all of the snakes and spiders though =/

Couple things going on lately:

Not being christian, christmas can actually be kind of fun. I did nothing for the occasion this year, unless you count eating chinese food. Mostly it was neat to walk around the deserted streets of Seattle. It was like a zombie apocalypse movie--nothing moved but the occasional buses and wind-blown litter. It was a nice relief from the pre-holiday madness....

Nothing but drinking and chinese food today and tomorrow. I'll need to stock up 'cause nothing in Seattle's open tomorrow.

Uh yeah: Edited to point out that chinese restaurants are open today, which is sorta the point.

Good god I'm feeling morbid. I gotta stop reading the Rigor Mortis and Supernatural groups before bedtime.

Nothing deeper than that except I guess Thanskgiving family time has started. Have a great Day of the Turkey, folks.

Morbidity? A man after my own heart. Happy Thanksgiving. In Canada we celebrated in October, we can't eat turkey too close together.

It's the Pacific Northwest in the fall. The weather is apocalyptically bad. The sun doesn't warm the Earth. Howling winds cut through layers of fleece and Goretex to freeze the hapless residents like those funny-shaped ice cubes. It's a perfect time to take up running! Is there anyone in Seattle or Bellingham who would want to run with me? I go for pretty casual runs--about...

You are brave, sir! That's why I go to the gym, or else I'd make up every excuse not to run.

Anywho, thanks for your compliments. I'm not really comfortable naming exactly what league it is. Even though my boobies are out there for the world to see, I'm still trying to keep somewhat anonymous, if there is such a thing here. smile

Have a happy turkey day! Drink lots, be merry and eat until you can't move! That's what I'm planning to do. biggrin

Two months in the desert does not prepare me for San Francisco traffic, people, commerce, smells, television, food choices, squalor, and rain.

Still, a DPW season that incredible eventually had to end. How could each day continue to be more fantastic, unique, and inspiring than the last? The 1-ton tire swing, hot springs ("Some days, life is like a beer commercial, but better"), watching the...

You don't hear this much, but I love the smell of a boat -- damp, close, a little mildewy. It smells like home. I'm glad to be on one again. I'm glad to have private time again. I'm glad I can pirate internet on this one. Now, if only this boat could be sailed. Sadly, it doesn't have a tiller or a bowsprit, so it's...
