i haven't posted in here lately because i frankly haven't seen the point. i love reading what other people are doing but find myself intensly droll.

on that note...

every single day i read or hear about some group or individual in this fine fucking country that makes me want to set the whole thing on fire, just give up and hit the reset button.

Sunday: Alexander - the story of a guy who, by the age of 25 had conquered the known world by being a super-fucking-badass (what have YOU done?)... beaten out and in 6th at the boxoffice - because National Treasure has been #1 for over two weeks a story about a fucking treasure map on the back of the declaration of independece... with nick cage?! fucking nascar fans...

Monday: a little girl (10) with Progeria is refused the right to get on her plane because she has to carry an oxygen tank with her TO LIVE. You know what, i'm thinking the 30lb girl who looks like she's 70 is a pretty fucking safe bet NOT to be a fucking terrorist, let her live her intolerably short life with a little bit of joy... seriously, this is maddeingly idiotic...

Tuesday: read this article. -- and at the bottom of that frightening Escape From New York seed germinating in the fat single-mother christian belly of america... these mind-numbing statistics...

Recent actions in the teaching of evolution

Tennessee, April 2003: Blount County's Board of Education votes not to adopt three high school biology textbooks because they do not present creationism alongside evolution.

Pennsylvania, October 2004: A Dover, Pa., school board votes to include intelligent design in the district's science curriculum, making it the first such school district in the country.

National polls on the issue

In your opinion, is Darwin's theory supported by evidence?

Supported by evidence, 35%

Not supported, 35% - neaderthals? cougars in Britain? countless other examples?

Don't know enough to say, 29%

Which best describes your views of the origin of life?

Man developed with God guiding, 38%

Man developed with no help from God, 13%

God created man in present form, 45% - this means that, statistically, if your significant other can vouch for evolution, like a rational human being, then you're an abysmal fool - ALMOST HALF!?

Source: Gallup Poll, conducted Nov. 7-10. The poll surveyed 1,016 adults; the margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Percentage favoring the teaching of creationism
instead of evolution

Overall, 37% - over one-fucking-third!!!!

Kerry voters, 24%

Bush voters, 45%

Self-described evangelical Christians, 60%

Source: CBS News poll, conducted Nov. 18-21. The poll surveyed 795 registered voters nationwide; the margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
