Trying to get started on Henry Rollins' new book Broken Summers. At the same time, trying to start a book called The Da Vinci Code that my dad left me at work...see, these are the problems you WANNA have.
One of the coolest prospects I had when I graduated college was that now, I get to FINALLY read for fun. I'm not reading for a report or trying to glean some interpretation that I have to explain in class...I'm reading now because I can...love it.
I read the first 12 pages of Jaws when I was 5 years old. Scared the shit out of me. I even remember the picture of the shark on the spine of the book itself. I wouldn't take a bath for a month. Swim in the pool, forget it...fuck my floaties, I'm not getting in.
Books are great. Love them. I'm gonna show my kids someday how cool it is to read...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The other night, went into the Burgundy Room but couldn't find or recognize anyone...cool place, anyway. Embarrassed myself by stopping right in the entranceway before going into the curtains by asking the girl sitting on the stool there, "So, um...I just go in, right?"
I think I was waiting for her to take a cover charge or something...she just looked my me like, Yeah, you wad...go on in.
Embarrassed myself further by camping out and approaching this little mohawked girl to ask if she'd seen anybody...shot down again.
Lemme know, interested parties, when you guys are going...because I'd love to see you all again.
