Two Novembers ago, my Dyson washing machine (which had started shredding clothes) broke down. By that time, I had completely gotten over the whole Dyson 'thing.' Both kinds of vacuum cleaner were crap and the washing machine was a noisy fucker. I've been cleaning the house with Henry. He's very reliable.

The clothes, I have been washing by hand. I realized that, for a guy that spends too much time sitting at the computer, and the rest of it on rollerblades, I should do something with my arms. I haven't kept up with the weightlifting because, frankly, it gets boring awfully fast. I need a rowing machine, I think. Anyhow, using that ridged section of the bathtub as a washboard has been doing the trick for the everyday stuff. I tried various shampoos. For some reason Head & Shoulders seems to work best. It's not every day you see your socks looking silky shiny dandruff-free.

I've been getting bored with that too now, though. It's been interesting, doing it the old-fashioned way; but now I want to spend time doing other things that are actually worthwhile, I don't have time to wash stuff by hand. So yesterday I finally went out and, among other things, bought a new washing machine. It will be delivered tomorrow. This will ironically coincide with when I run out of clean clothes. Wacky.

I thought of something to talk about for Trahern's Table Two, but now I've forgotten it. I should probably wait until I shave, anyway. You've probably had enough of my stubble and want to see the elven version of my face, eh?

Edited to add: the latest on Paris Hilton, which I found amusing.

...Supporters have set up an online petition campaigning for a pardon from the prison sentence, attracting over 20,000 signatures. But a rival online petition supporting the custodial sentence has been signed by nearly 50,000 people.
