For ages now I've needed to make a list of things to do to this house. This is the first year in... ten, I think, that I've actually felt like doing it. Since I'm getting photographic urges at the same time, I figured I'd use that format for the list.
The front garden. The fence was old and bent and deserved death, but it shouldn't have been smashed down by that kid who lives down the road. I still don't know why I haven't ratted him out to his mother. Or the police. Anyhoo, gotta clear all that greenery, find the dirt border underneath and plant a new hedge. Oh, in the background are the homes of neighbours that wish I'd do something about the whole fenceless thing, because it runs almost the entire length of the property.
In the background is my tree. It needs trimming. The new hedge will run right through it. About time the bastard started sharing some of that groundwater so it'll stop causing the corner of that house to subside. Also going to chop down that thing in the middleground. Not even sure what it is. The trees in the foreground are goverment-sponsored decor, so I don't do anything to them.
Chimney needs repointing due to the afore-mentioned subsidence, and probably some of the wall beneath. I have cracks in the bedroom wall. They used to be hairline before that earthquake thumped through here, years back. I thought something heavy had fallen over next door at the time. Anyway, once all that's done, clear the chimneys out so that they're working again come winter.
This is my kitchen ceiling, which was once the lowest point of a two-step waterfall through my house. Need to get that replastered, but probably not before the work upstairs is done, because...
...This is what's directly above it. Fucking DIYers. Put the shower control against drywall and let it leak. Probably put the tile right up against the drywall too with nothing in between, I bet. And wallpaper in bath/shower rooms is indescribably stupid. Going to rip out that shower, repair the floor as necessary, then put in one of those stand-alone shower units. Oh, and that toilet needs fixing too.
The wall between the shower room and second bedroom, and where the upper half of the waterfall ended up. A joint between two sides of roof failed. That's already been replaced. Gotta do something about all this though.
My mother's plans for the back garden, so long ago, sucked. This is what's left of the... patio, veranda, whatever. Weeds and such continued to grow from underneath, so I want to be rid of it. On the left is what's left of the fence that went down the side of the garden, not including the wreckage still lying somewhere out there.
Gotta chop all that down. The fence on the right is not mine. The previous occupiers of next door did not ask before bracing their new fence against the wind, but they correctly assumed that I didn't really give a damn.
The fenceless side of the garden, next to the public path. Gonna chop down that bush... thing. Dunno what I'm going to do for a new fence, but it sure as hell won't be more panels for the spring and autumn winds to blow down. I might make something out of the remaining wreckage. Something with gaps in for the wind to blow through. Nothing the neighbours would like, considering how much I tend to let the garden grow in the first place. Complaining about it is half the reason I've left it this long without a fence in the first place.
the next ones will be medical fetish zombie suicide blood ^.^
