Grr.

More and more computer games are requirinf a DVD drive. It took me months and a couple of Star Wars games to submit, and I yanked the old combo drive out of my last computer and put it in to this one. It's no longer colour coordinated, but I can now play Battlefront 2 and Empire at War.

Then come Stubbs the Zombie and The Movies. I can't play either of them with my current graphics card. I get a new one. When I install it, I discover my current power supply can't handle it. I put the old one back, but there's a snag when new drivers corrupt Windows files and... well, it wasn't pretty, but I got things working again.

I finally ordered a new power supply this weekend. Tried to install it a few hours ago. Turns out the power cable that connects to the motherboard is a 24-pin thing, but my motherboard is only a 20-pin. Que another round of 'putting the old thing back in and then having another bloody annoying Windows hiccup.'

I've given up. Someday I'll just put a new box together. In the meantime, I'm never opening this one again.

Edited to add: Just to spite me, my nVidia card choked and died on me. Currently using an old Hercules 3D Prophet. Graphics cards have really grown in the past decade...

WoW now plays like I'm on a 56k modem, and I can't play Empire at War at all. I'm going to give the nVidia card a thorough going over and see if I can somehow salvage the bastard. Otherwise I may have to get yet another card just so I can get my gaming back without building a whole new box.

You should teach yourself to draw then. I hear "Drawing on the right side of the brain" is a great way to learn. kiss
