So Xmas is now offically over and we're into New Year's Season. Wow it went fast too - mind you working Xmas eve and Boxing day (26th for those of you who don't have it in your country) made it seem really short.
I got a stack of DVDs, a nice framed drawing from a very talented friend who used to sell his prints (this being an original of Woody and Diane from Annie Hall) and a few books etc - but it's not all about recieving; I gave a few cool gifts to family and friends too.
And after busting one of my turntables on Xmas day (when I got home from my parents, really tired and thinking I needed to listen to some vinyl and knocking a light onto the arm), I think I've fixed it now and can crack on with my next mix tape. The first one is already done and isn't great but has a few good bits in there (hence it being a demo mix to gauge what people like about the track listing) - see my MySpace for more details and how to download it.
But seeing as the new Beatle's CD has impressed me so much I might try and do a tribute mix to that, one I can pull off live too - Tomorrow Never Knows in to Chemical Brothers Setting Sun, beat mixing the Sgt Peppers reprise, mixing easy listning versions of their tracks into the orignals (I've got a really weird Hammond Organ cover of My Sweet Lord and George's original 7" so may be able to fit that in there) blend acapellas into their tracks or play around with them - basically a two turntable mix up with their tracks and others influenced by them, as well as a bit of fun too. What do you think? I could call it "Love'd Up" (seeing as the new CD is 'LOVE')
Anyhoo, will also do an SG influenced mix (more rock that anything else - but still all mixed up) and maybe a more excentric one too. Will keep you posted.
