Mythology of Youth

We are able to be kings, and take all the contracted streets as ours. We will turn heads, and not care who is looking. We will not stop our loud and detestable behavior in nice restaurants, because if we can't be piercing in our actions at this moment, when can we be? We will stumble through town, arms locked and hearts elevated, because we know we are unstoppable. We are the finest of friends, and the most agreeable of lovers, and that cannot simply be stumbled upon, bought, or traded. The core of us is our trust and honestly, our need for each other as just human beings who desire to live. Now is when we will breathe deepest. We are ample in thought able in body, and we'll never be this free again. We are just half-adults, college minions those older than us detest due to our inability to be reasonable, mundane, unspirited, quiet. And when we are them, looking at our children the way our parents look at us, when we call each other to remember this fleeting season, we won't say we were kings. No. We will know that we were gods.
