Please tell me that you do this too- doesn't it seem that when you sit and randomly watch movies, that there are a few that affect you profoundly when you least expect it? The movies I've been watching lately have been doing just that. Take 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Not my usual bag as far as peliculas go, but it really got me thinking about all the ways that your freedom can be constrained.
I'm not just speaking of prison walls, jail cells, and all that. What about the walls that we erect in our hearts and minds? The boundaries and limitations we put upon ourselves for whatever reason? Taking for granted the simple things like getting up in the morning and knowing where you are, and most importantly, wanting to be there. Not anywhere else. Between the movies that have profoundly impacted my life, and the dreams that I've been having, I realize that there is so much out there. Besides clocking in and clocking out of our daily pretend sessions. Besides being preoccupied with the latest consumeristic (is that a word?) adrenaline rush. Besides seeking perfection, a moving target.
We're always thinking of an eternity as an idea that cannot be misunderstood. Something immense. You're so ill that what you think you see is merely a delusion. God, that our immortal bodies could be such varied prisons for us, that our immortal faces could be such masks for our true souls.
By the way, here is the link for a piece that I wrote for this website called Exotic Dancer College (and the answer is no, I've never been a dancer): Trixie's article
