Ok, here's a strange one.... I've lived in the same place for nine years now and I had an upstairs neighbor up until a year ago.. Charles was a really nice guy ... he used to be on the Editorial staff for the local paper and he and I would hang out every now and then till he up and died a little less than a year ago. His "family" came and took a few minutes worth of time looking through his possessions to mine for whatever gold they could find ...they left quickly. There were no hidden treasures because Charles had everything he needed and he tended to give away his money to people he thought needed it more than he did...(still, his apartment was that of a major hoarder). Over the course of the last year, I've helped my landlord (A SAINT AMONG LANDLORDS) empty the place out and It is 99% empty now. I was up there earlier today and I opened up a drawer in the kitchen table and it was filled with the same kind of paperwork, receipts and crap that one usually finds when going through a dead persons things...only there was one of his old driver's licenses... I was about to put it back down when I saw his date of birth .... 1-11-42... Charles was born EXACTLY 27 years prior to ME! We lived so close to each other for nine years and never new we shared the SAME birthday! It messed me up a bit , standing there in what was his home for 15 years... Admittedly, I got a little choked up ... I kept the driver's license and his press pass... reminders to always look more deeply, always try a bit harder to get to know the people arround me from now on...
