my god the burlesque show last night was hot. once again stormy was the epitome of the trashy hussy, and i found a brand new appreciation of nixon. that girl has an ass that's hypnotic...sicily was signing posters afterward, and even though i'm on her friends list... i was so tounge tied around her. i know these girls aren't celebrities or anything, but they are...

i have a morning all to myself tommorow, and i'm not yet sure what i would like to do with it. a part of me cries out to sleep in, but the larger more altruistic side encourages me to go down to the salvation army and drop off all my donations. i have to get my car washed, get some more bath gel from the...

Tapes, dangerous beautiful things.
I wish I was going to the burlesque with you. I'd love to meet you. I hope you enjoy yourself.

You know what's odd is that I normally wake up between 7:30 and 8 every morning, regardless of alarm clocks, and I enjoy it -- except this morning when I had to get up. I guess that will teach me for volunteering opening shifts.
The best thing that happened to me today? While those moments are few and far between lately, I suppose it was seeing my former Yoga teacher at work. Such an interesting and kind woman (and I should really get back into Yoga).

so i know i've been away for a good while, but it's not because i don't want to be around... just extremely busy with life and work, and trying to cultivate other interests besides ones that take me away from being productive, like spending endless hours on this site... no offense

i don't feel pathetic, or weak, just cognizant of what's important to me and how i am going to have it. so i guess that's a good thing, right?
Sounds like the definition of calm to me.
Reminds me of an artist from the nineteenth century, and I don't remember who, whose skies were incredible: vibrant and glowing. A physical geography teacher of mine related the intensity of this painter's skies to the fact that the atmosphere was filled with ash from the Krakatoa (I believe) eruption. The ash was affecting light and reflection.

and i'm stuck in a track house in suburbia... you make your place sound almost glamorous in its difference to my dwelling.
It's not as glamorous when it's 100 degrees in here, or there are drunks fighting outside my window. Or the sirens wake me up again.

so much is going on these days... i have rediscovered a relationship that i have had all along, but isn't it an amazing feeling to realize you are falling for someone all over again that has been right next to you the whole time? suffice to say, i feel immensely better about my world, everyone in it looks a little bit more beautiful, everything feels...

all of the turmoil i have had in my life lately is finally over with. i am happier now in the last three days than i have been in at least three years. in light of what had to happen to get there, it's almost comical. nonetheless, i am looking forward to a much more solid future, i feel like i have a chance at...

Digging the happier you! But, don't beat yourself up too much, cool? Sometimes shit just doesn't work, and that's the way it's supposed to be. Sucks, but sometimes it's true. I still love my ex to death, but we're just wrong for each other. It's not her fault, and it's not mine, we're just different people and expect and can give different things that don't match completely. We're still great friends because I think we both know it and don't hold it against the other. May not have anything at all to do with what you're talking about though.
In any case, keep being happy, sista', it looks good on you.

is there anything better than lying on a blanket with almost all of your favorite people laughing and sharing thoughts as they come into your head, without worry of judgement? i think not. sharing intimacy without all of the messy fluid exchange is so fulfilling sometimes. but then again, that's a good time too...

Just make sure you don't end up writing tiny reviews for Zagats. That's a dark and lonely road, baby, and I've seen too many people turned into hollow shells due to restaurant rage...

"Cold men destroy women," my mother wrote me years later. "They woo them with something personable that they bring out for show, something annexed to their souls like a fake greenhouse, lead you in, and you think you see life and vitality and sun and greenness, and then when you love them, they lead you out into their real soul, a drafty, cavernous, empty ballroom,...

i've - strangely enough - been thinking of elliot smith a lot lately, and i think you're right, his music does sound somehow altered now, in some ways i find it hard to listen to at times, i have to be in a really specific mood, which i didn't before.
chai lattes are my fuel, i went from being sort of addicted to jasmine tea for a while to those. yummy.

it rained this afternoon... Rotten Sockets and i were out running/walking when the first little droplets came down.. it's nice to have respite from the early, oppressive heat. i actually used my fireplace too...watched csi tonight..i am continually amazed at how much i love that show and how much forensics and crime scene investigation fascinates me. sure, i know that it doesn't wrap up that...

talked to my dad today... isn't it funny sometimes how a voice on the other end of the line that you don't have to doubt even for a second that they love you tears right through the artifice that you carefully construct for other people? my dad has grown up so much in the last ten years, he's someone i admire so much simply for...

The only artist from that group of which I am sort of a fan is Kristin Hersh and I only have one LP of Hunkpapa and the cd University from her Throwing Muses days. As for the others, I like each song, but don't know that I'd want a whole cd of them. The Smaller song is exceptional, though.
Long story... My best friend, and ex, K found a compilation cd called Volume when she was in college in Fairbanks. Getting indie and brit music wasn't easy up there, so she bought it. Then she discovered that they released a new one a couple times a year and not only was the cd usually filled with lesser known artists, but many of the songs were alternative mixes, demos, etc, and there was a thick booklet with interviews from every participating band. It was actually very cool. Anyway, she had eight of them when we met and I found her eight more while we were together. They became quarterly releases in 1993 and became two cd sets starting with number fourteen in 1995. I was not a fan of most of the groups and some of the songs absolutely suck, but now that I have more appreciation for rare tracks, I burned my own copies and have relistened to all of the cds. So this compilation is my favorites of the Volume compilations. Unfortunately, they seem to have mysteriously gone out of business after number seventeen.
(From one of the threads on the boards) I grew up listening to my 45 and LP collection - doo-wap, Stones, Guess Who, CCR. The first albums I received as gifts were Elton John's Greatest Hits and ELO - A New World Record because my cool uncle liked them (he's now only my sometimes-funny, somewhat loser uncle). The first band I liked without any family influence was Cheap Trick. Then came Zeppelin and other classic rock types. Then came college voice lessons and choir and I found I liked groups like Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode. During that time I accidentally discovered community sponsored radio and college radio and found Husker Du, the Replacements, Soul Asylum, Soundgarden, Spot 1019, etc., as well as Kate Bush and Cocteau Twins. In my 20's I listened to a lot of adult contemporary. I have eclectic tastes.

i never see my dad, but my mom and i are sort of best friends, i look out for her, help her do her taxes and stuff... soemthing funny about seeing your parents differently a syou get older, more as people in their own right rather than being specifically your parents, if that makes sense.

my pre-bed routine involves reading til tyhe words blur, headphones, and something soothing to listen to. of course, i do have the worst insomnia right now coupled with a creative roll i'm on.

My favorite fact about Gatorade is how it stays the same color thorugh the entire digestion process. And goes directly to the sweat glands.

you were so sweet at the show, glad i got to meet you!
Hopefully, your friend will rationally examine what's occurred. Naturally, we'd all prefer that our feelings not get hurt. But it does happen, even among friends. Not that she has to like it, but she can't expect that it can't ever happen.
Off to see SG Burlesque tonight! Thanks for the preview.
