The night sky is so clear

Well not right at this moment in the UK, after all it's not only daytime, but it's also pouring with rain as I write this. But over the last few weeks, something that has really struck me is the night sky.

Light pollution is always a problem in city life, but I'm absolutely sure that it has been much clearer lately, and I'm seeing a lot more stars (and planets) than I think I ever have living where I live. I did read that with the reduction of pollution levels in the atmosphere (largely from less cars and planes I guess) visibility of the stars has become around 20% clearer.

I'm not quite located in a position to be able to see the milky way core as it moves around the south overnight, but stars and constellations are nicely visible. Looking forward to be allowed to get out again at night with the tripod and (attempt) to capture some lovely MW pictures!

This is not the greatest or most inventive astro picture ever, but just playing about with the camera in the garden the other night, practising if you like... Next up after lockdown, to find a nice foreground.
