2016 Part 1

I keep meaning to blog on here more but every time i try to write something I get the overwhelming feeling that what I write is many interesting enough. As 2016's end is drawing near I really want to get some of my experiences down so here goes.

2016 started for me like most I imagine, with a sore head and a fair bit of cleaning up to do. If I made any New Years resolutions I'm fairly sure that they have fallen by the wayside by now, but I'm here and healthy so I can't complain.

I suppose the beginning of year did have a resolution of sorts. I had been taking anti-depressants for the best part of a year after a series of events and I was determined to get off them not just for my own sake but for the people around me too. I felt like they numbed me down and that made it hard to open up to people and be myself.

Around March i started to wind down the dosage and I could have picked a better time of year as there were plenty of ups and down over the months in between. Moving being a huge upheaval.

It must have been around the end of April I decided I was going get a tattoo that I had wanted for years and just down stairs from my flat Ginger Tom's Tattoo's where the incredibly talented @missfernandez works. I absolutely love it she couldn't have been any nicer which makes a huge difference when you're getting tattoo'd all day.

Things between me and my flat mate had become fraught over the past 6 months so when I finally moved, from what was a very nice flat in the centre of Southampton, to the outskirts of Bournemouth in a big country house I was ready for the move and excited to be in a new town and meet some new people.

Around the same time I took my last tablet and said goodbye to anti-depressants. I celebrated by flying out to Antigua to see my best friend who had been sailing out there for the past 5 months. We had an amazing trip and really reconnected which was a great feeling. I came back to work feeling recharged and ready for new challenges.

About a month later I received my Type rating through the post to work on and certify the Dassault Falcon 2000 which is one of our main aircraft. It's a lot of responsibility and a big mile stone to achieve after leaving the army 2 years ago.
