I went to get my timing belt replaced a while back, and the mechanic told me he noticed that my CV boot was ripped, and I would need to replace it. I told him I would have to wait, because I couldn't afford it. So today I had the money saved up to go get it replaced (actually the whole axle, not the cv boot, cause it's easier and cheaper that way) so I go and drop off the car (at a different mechanic closer to my house), and start walking home. My cell phone rings, and it's the mechanic. "who told you you needed a new CV boot? There is nothing wrong with it."
