Warning: These events actually happend.
I answer the phones at work (I work for a Dairy). The other day, a lady called up...the events that transpired, made my day...
*Ring Ring*
ME: "Thank you for calling Clover, this is Orie..."
LADY: "Hi, yeah, I have a problem"
ME: "Um, ok...well, how can I help you?"
LADY: "I work for XXXXXXXXX School, and we get your 'school sized milks' for our lunches. Anyway, I've been keeping track, and you know the games you have on the back of the cartons?"
ME: "Oh, yeah, you mean the crossword puzzles?"
LADY: "Yeah, well something's spelled wrong."
ME: "Wow are you serious? What is it?"
LADY: "Cricket, they left out the letter 'k' in cricket"
ME: "That's crazy! What flavor milk?"
LADY: "Flavor?"
ME: "Chocolate, whole, 2%..."
LADY: "OH, chocolate."
ME: "Let me put you on hold, I'm gunna go grab one..."
So I put her on hold and ran to our kitchen/breakroom where we have fridge full of half pints...pausing to tell my co-workers the crazy news, all the while reading the whole carton to see where it says "cricket" and not finding it. I then solve the puzzle thinking maybe it's there...it's not.
ME: "Sorry to keep you on hold...are you sure it was our milk? Because I don't see cricket on here at all..."
LADY: "Oh no, you have to solve the crossword...it's the answer to number 3." (very smugly I might add)
ME: (after a bit of a pause) "Um, ma'am, the answer to #3 is not 'cricket".
LADY: (longer pause) "Yes it is..."
ME: "Well, you see...the answers are on the bottom of the carton, and 'cricket' isn't the answer..."
LADY: (awkwardly long silence this time) "Oh..." *hangs up on me*
Keep in mind, these crosswords are only 5 or 6 questions long...and are geared towards elementry school kids.
