I've never understood the logic behind stikes. It gets the management pissed off at the workers and want to fire them, and if it's a job that means interacting with the public (like the local bus drivers) it gets the public pissed off at them and want the management to fire them... I homed in on your comment about apple trees in you prev. journal..... there are loads of alternatives to Bramleys, although they are rightfully popular. This place isn't too far away from you if you are interested in checking out some alternative varieties.
