So it would appear that SG Chat has come to a possible end. Though I know many have come to love and cherish SG chat, I can say without any hesitation that none will miss it quite like I will.
To explain, this is my "memory of chat":
Started chat back when it was an AIM room, not often to many people in but I can remember making an ass of myself by being really young and "innocent" with my comments. To my luck it wasn't my SG name, no real way to connect it to my SG account.
I was a part of the IRC chat and when cams got introduced, this is where I really started my chat life. It started with people like Dia, Solisis, Olivia, Cerial Killer, Trinity, SBG, Hel, Synnove, Lefty, Nic, Bean, Rosalyn, Suiciety, Marla, MisterSatan, Pinup, Erin, Roxy, Toreena, LE, Zarina, s5, Fractal, Greggster, DemiGauge, Beppo, Maxx, Stacie... and numerous others.
I remember the original Chat games, mostly Scavenger hunts, you had to hold up the item in front of your cam until it showed up due to the style of the cams, done in 5 second increments. you could also have many cams, and move them around the screen to organize.
I remember Olivia cam, specifically her vegan cooking, she was one of my inspirations to try the vegan life.
A common theme in chat was for people to fall asleep, sometimes naked in front of their camera, the first person I can remember doing this habitually was Zarina
I remember the original talks about SG prom, and East Coat Gala being talked about in Chat.
Chat Romances and their dramas, they started as early as chat itself and persisted right till the end.
I can remember a period when chat was in its "prime" when I would wake up at 6am and from 6:15 to 8:30 am LuckyHarps, myself and Kaikai would get on audio and video and chat about new sets, what we liked and disliked about them as well as chatting about our daily lives, It became a hit and we would routinely have 10-20 listeners every morning.
People did all kinds of weird things in chat all for a desperate attempt for attention, or for the lols. these things ranged from sexual acts right down to self harm and near suicide.
I've spent my entire adult life with SG, and SG chat in my life from the age of 18 right till now, at the age of 30.
Yea I'm gonna miss chat, and I hope it can be revived somehow, but I'm not gonna be all mopey about it. After all, SG chat has been the rock for me in my worst and best times. I can say without a doubt it has made me a better person, and I've formed some of the closest bonds with the people I've met through it.
