The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, Sky Eats Airplane, and Emarosa... wow. What an amazing show.
We left Price at around 8:oo a.m., google maps instructions in hand, and drove the 270 miles towards our final destination. We were looking for a venue called "The Great Saltair", having no clue which general direction us country mice were supposed to be heading, we followed the instructions diligently, only to have them lead us into a nice, suburbian neighborhood. So we asked directions a few dozen times, and finally thought we were going towards the right direction. And then houses and businesses grew sparse and we started towards the Great Salt Lake. Im terrified of large bodies of water. I always think a giant cracken is going to come out and end my sweet little life. The further we go, the less populated it gets. Every other venue I have had the pleasure of going to was in the middle of the city.. so I start thinking that we are lost, again. I find a 7-11 and ask directions. The sassy old lady tells me, "It's a big fucking castle. you cant miss it" so I drive, looking for a "big fucking castle" sure enough, right on the water..is a big.fucking.castle. A russian one. Just like in tetris. And there was no line. There is alwayyyyys a line. So we parked. and waited. The time was 3:30 p.m. the doors did not open til 7. Finally around 4:30, people started to show up, so we figured we better get in line. It was the coldest 2 and 1/2 hours of my entire life. Rain, mixed with wind, mixed with the chill off of the scary ass cracken filled lake.. way cold. And I swear, we were the oldest people there. All these kids are like " man, i had to get out of school early to get here" lol. The show started with emarosa. I had never heard them before, but the lead singer has amazing vocals. powerful with a soulful edge. Then we moved on to Sky Eats Airplane. Amazing.. captivating.. A day to remember was so good I thought I might cry, and their live performance cemented them into a place in my top 5.. Then on to the big guns: The Devil Wears Prada. Oh.My.God. The raw emotion that pours out of that whole band is astonishing. even the keyboarder is captivating.
