Sigh. $1500 car tax...I think it's time to move back to D.C. for my remaining year here. More expensive to live there, and the income taxes are slightly higher, but I don't get that dumb vehicle tax like I do in Virginia.
I just need to be patient...I'm almost done with school, then hopefully I'll have more opportunities available to me.

It's why I prefer an income tax like we have in NJ to personal property tax.

You just can't win in the DMV area. You can live in NoVA, like me, and have lower income and state taxes, but a horrendously expensive vehicle tax and other assorted taxes. You can live in DC, which has a high income tax, is mad expensive, but no vehicle tax...or finally, you can live in Maryland, with no vehicle tax and probably a lower cost of living the DC or NOVA, but a high income tax, especially if you are making six figures or more. Argh!
