Well, I had my first day of classes on Friday. I must say, when you are 26 years old and in class with a bunch of people who were born 8 years after you, you really begin to feel the age rather quickly. But it was nice to be back in and starting to move forward again. Plus my classes are a nice ease back in while seeming to be fun at the same time.

I started my day with English 101, which I didn't even take my first time in school. I tested out of it, as English and writing have always been pretty strong points for me, but after a 7 year lay-off, I decided to ease back in with the easiest levels of things I could, and boy am I glad I did. Not because I think it's going to be hard, but because my instructor is a doctoral candidate in the English dept who focuses the class on writing and discussing pop culture. For a TV, movie and music junkie, what could possibly be better than a pop culture addict for a teacher? Also did I mention that the teacher is about 29 years old and an absolutely gorgeous Cuban girl? So, my first crush upon returning to college is not on one of the young nubile co-eds in my classes, but on my cute Cuban English teacher. Go figure.

After that class I had Intro to US Politics. As both a political science major and a bit of a news junkie, I'm not really expecting this class to blow my socks off, but I do find the instructor amusing and have been told that he's good to get in good with early as he teaches some kickass higher level poli-sci courses.

I then had a 3 hour break for lunch, which is a nice little time to hit the campus restaurants and explore my old/new home of campus.

After lunch I went to my math class which is Math 002, also known as double-o duh, but after 7 years off, once again, I'm not taking any chances. It was here that I encountered my first taste of feeling old. My TA who teaches the class is 23...a full 3 years younger than me. Nice.

I then hustled over to my discussion section for Intro to Theater, which was of course pointless as we had not had a lecture to discuss yet, but still we got a tour of the theater dept, which I'm familiar with from my prior incarnation as a theater/film major.

I wound my day up with Psych 104 or General Psychology, taught by another doctoral candidate, this one male and not Cuban, so no crush developed, but he does seem interesting in his own quirky, off-beat way. All in all, I think he'll be a good instructor to have.

So that's what my college schedule looks like for this semester. I'm actually pretty stoked about 4 of my 5 classes, but who's ever stoked about Math? I feel the possibility of my 4.0 goal is not completely out of reach, so wish me luck.
