I have odd fears. Now, I'm not saying that I'm batshit crazy paranoid, but you might after I explain them. Don't get me wrong. I know that everybody suffers from phobias, but certain phobias of mine are quite possibly insane. Just to show that I'm not lying I'll give you a quick list of my major fears, starting with the common ones.

I'm scared of heights. I get dizzy and have to sit down if I'm in a high place where the vertigo starts to take over.

I fear death. This is pretty much a direct correlation with my not believing in God, probably.

Those are really my only common fears that aren't really out of control. Then I have a few fears that are common that are completely insane in the level of the fear.

I am scared to death of snakes. If I see a snake I freeze up and can't move. It doesn't matter what kind of snake it is, I'm just as freaked out by a garter snake as a rattle snake, and trust me, growing up in Western Kansas I had my share of snakes to scare the shit out of me.

Then I have fears that make absolutely no sense. This is actually what prompted me to write about this because it's one of these fears that has left me with enough time this morning to write this.

I'm scared of being late. I know this sounds somewhat crazy, but I take it to the extreme that I set my alarm for 5:40 in the morning so that I can hit snooze a few times, get up at 6:20, just so that I can be out of the shower by 6:45. Why? Because I HAVE to be at work by 7:40 in my mind. This may seem normal, until you realize that I don't start work until 8 and I sit in my car from 7:40 to just before 8.

So, yeah. I'm a nutjob. But at least it's not in a Charles Manson/President Bush kind of way, right?
