I have returned from my voyage to Western KS virtually unscathed. I escaped with only 2 arguments and 1 night of drunken debauchery. More on all 3 in a moment. First, I want to say thank you to Sophie and cklarock for the comments and for being rad as they get. I've not met either in person, but I can definitely say that there isn't a cooler couple of people on the planet, bar none. Now, on to the trip.

First, arguments. As I stated, I come from a horribly conservative family, and I do think that is the proper modifier for this adjective. Now, I may have been itching for a fight on the first one, and I'll openly admit to that. If I go a few days without a good bit of political discourse my head explodes, so I had to take what I could get. But first, let me set the scene. I'm at my house preparing to go out with my dear sweet cousin(who is a horrible influence, but more on that later) when my Great Aunt and Great Uncle, both in town for their all school reunion and staying at my grandmother's house with me. Here's how the story played out.

My great aunt Eleanor says "Your grandmother told us not to talk politics with you". This led to me obviously starting the conversation leading towards politics. Now, while I admit that I was looking for a fight, I think that the aforementioned comment does count as baiting. But, the reason I'm relating this story at all is the comment that I think sums up the difference between Conservatives and Liberals in regards to a social agenda. I said, in response to my great aunt saying "Why would you want to be a Liberal?" I respond with what I think is a good argument that doesn't dive too deep into any of my pet issues. "I'm a Liberal because I care about people and a Liberal social agenda is all about helping people." Her response "See, I don't care what happens to anybody but myself and my family".

Right there it is summed up in two quotes. The difference between social Liberals and social Conservatives.

The other argument was about healthy eating. This came about due to the fact that I have realized, much to my chagrin, that I have put on about 10 pounds lately. Basically, this weight has come since quitting the vegetarian diet that served me so well, so while I'm not going to go back to that, I will be working out soon, because I dont' want to be a fattie. Its either that or an eating disorder and the working out seems like a better idea. But I digress. Back to the argument.

My 3 Elders of my family were taking the stance that you could eat absolutely anything and it would have no effect at all on your health. That healthy eating was a myth created by the "liberal media". I say "I can show you tons of studies with reams of empirical data" and they respond with, I shit you not, "Science is just bullshit for the Liberal propaganda." How do you argue with that shit?

As for the night of drunken debauchery, nothing that drunk or debuach about it. My cousin took me out drinking and introduced me to 3 very attractive bartenders she works with. I'll let your imagination play out the rst of the night and I refuse to confirm or deny anything.

Hope you all had a great weekend.
