Well, to give the full report, here's what yesterday was all about:

I had my old housemates, S & B, over for a big brunch - something we do about once every month or so. Wanting to do a bit of baking, I decided to pull out all the stops and make a Dutch Baby - a baked pancake, essentially. It was quite the tasty, satisfying treat, and the raspberry sauce that I made to go along with it was the perfect choice.

After the brunch, we lazed around and read the paper, discussed music, and made tentative plans to watch soccer at their place later on.

As they left, I couldn't help but feel oddly corporate - here it was the weekend, and I had had my friends over for a gourmet brunch. It just felt too... corporately-branded hipsterish. Y'know?

Well, after that, I decided to plunge into the depths of the code for my site, and figure out how to change some things up. After a couple of attempts, I was able to teach myself something that I hadn't previously known - a very satisfying thing. Especially since code and I don't mingle too often.

From there, it kind of gets simpler. We went and saw the new Matrix movie...

... and I want those hours of my life back.

I've done some more soul-searching, and I keep coming back to the same quandaries. I want to travel, more than anything else - but for one, I don't have any available money to do so. This is where the Peace Corps comes into the puzzle. I know through and through that it's something I need to do... but is it the right time?

I told my father that I was moving forward with my application, and he, of all people, said "Well, that'd just be a break - when are you going to look for something serious?" This is where the Urban Corporate Youth comment comes into play... I don't want to have any part of it, to be honest. I have friends who're making 40, 50, 60k+ a year and have no idea what the hell they're doing. They just want the money. And, yes, while money would certainly relieve some things, it wouldn't satisfy my wanderlust, nor my desire to get the hell out of dodge.

And that, my friends, is the end of this ramble.

Will you go out with me? Circle Yes, Maybe, or No.

YES MAYBE NO

Make money however you need to make it if you want to travel. Just make plans with that travel other than wanderlust to justify. Write, photograph, soak up life. As long as you suck the marrow out of it, who cares how you get there!

As for the Peace Corps, I have reasons I don't like that particular organization I won't go into, but you might try the UCY thing first.
