Heh, the quote on my current journal entry was from a collection of short stories by a Canadian authour. She was talking about her experiences back in the 30s and 40s, including her education in the US.

As for California, I have to say that for the most part, I've really liked living here. As much as I love Canada, the winter weather can't be beat. What people call "cold" here is a joke for those Canadian-raised. I was reading in an SG journal today that they wished Toronto was already at T-shirt weather. Well, it was about 33C here today, and if it was Saturday, everybody would be at a park or beach.
Also, the SF Bay Area's culture was not too different from Toronto's. You've got your high tech crowd, lots of immigrant groups (and restaurants!) to keep things from being too culturally monotonous. Much like Toronto, really.
The downside? Gotta live with Americans.
