Sure, applied to humans, in a much more diverse and complex setting, what you say is basically true. If there's a goal you've set your mind on reaching, the pain involved becomes marginal. Nevertheless, you've still learned, right? To try a different approach, for example, or even the same, if certain cicumstances have changed so that reaching your goal is more likely the second time around.

Problem is, bugs repeat even if the chances have NOT increased.
