I've been having some grand thoughts about the new place. I live on the second level and have this vry large attic above me. I am thinking about tearing the ceiling out and finishing the attic as a loft/vaulted ceiling type room. Could be ULTRA super cool, or..... Need to find someone that could give me a bid/direction on where to start. I plan on getting my roof done before the summer is over. That would open hte idea up for skylights! Sklights rock! Maybe finding some who could CAD up the joint. Figure out the structure and what can be supported (and what can't!)

OK back to ramble. Maybe an exposed beam or two! I am not sure bout the loft part of the deal tho. To make a room upstairs, I would have to re-address the stairs that lead upstairs. Either that, or rearrange the roof? Ah Snap! This would add a SHITTON of value to the joint.---if done well. It would also add another 10-12 feet of ceiling space. Assom
