this has officially started off as the worst new year ever. my now ex-fiancee and i had been having a rough time of things over the past few months. she's off at school, 2 1/2 hrs. away. not all that far but with her workload and volunteering she doesn't have much time off. not to mention the fact that she's starting to see her long time dreams become reality. unfortunately, her dreams and goals for the future don't really mesh with my life now. i'm at a point where i'm trying to go back to school later this year, but in the meantime i'm moving into a new apartment, without her. though at first i thought everything was going to be fine. but it seems both of us had some unspoken expectations about what the future was to bring. when we finally started digging deeper into what we both thought about our situation and our future, it became clear that we were both headed in different directions. so on new year's eve, we broke a 4 year relationship and future marriage. there's the possibility that we can reconcile later, after we've both gotten some space to breathe and sort out our own lives. but i'm not getting my hopes up. only time will tell.
