ANOTHER HURRICANE????? What the hell???? Is it just me , or has there been a HUGE increase in the number of hurricanes and tropical storms in this past year or so . Not just an increase in the quantity , but also in the intensity . This bitch Rita is topping off at a category 5!!!! THAT is a big-ass storm . At least that previous destructive bitch Katrina taught us something about how to deal with a monster like this . Houston , TX and some surrounding ares are being evacuated . It just seems odd to think that a city that size could actually be in any kind of danger . Not that I doubt the power of this particular storm or anything . It's just kind of humbling is all . 
On a lighter note...
I recently rented one of my favorite childhood movies . The Monster Squad!!!!! Yeah , it's movies like this that turned me into the goofy maladjusted bastard that I am today . For those of you who have never seen this fine film , it is basically The Goonies...only with monsters . Basically a bunch of misfit kids uncover a plot by Dracula to re-unite the classic monsters for a final assault on humanity . So naturally these kids are our only hope for survival. I know . It doesn't make any sense , but who cares???? There are so many plot holes and completely illogical moments in this movie that it's almost funny . The thing is , you don't care . It's just a generally good movie . PLUS , if all of that isn't enough , this "wholesome family movie" movie was written by the same guy who wrote the Lethal Weapon movies and Predator!!!! Uh huh . That's why you get a scene of Dracula picking a five year old girl up by the throat and hissing "Give me my amulet , YOU BITCH!!!!" You also get shotgun toting fat kids , exploding werewolves , foul mouthed youngsters , AND a Scary German Guy!!!! To top it off , all of the impressive special effects were done by FX wiz Stan Winston , who was responsible for The Terminator , Predator , Jurassic Park , and Aliens...to name a few . Try to dig this flick up if you can . It's not on DVD , so you'll have to try to find the VHS version . It holds up pretty well for being a late 80's movie .
