Okay , I have some time to update on all of the debaucherous debauchery that transpired in New Haven , CT for the last three weeks .
Firstly I'd like to extend a BIG middle finger to US Air for making me get home at 4:00am this morning instead of the promised 9:00pm last night . Here's to you guys . YOU SUCK!!!!!
Ahem . New Haven was okay . I had this misconception that because Yale University is there that the place was all fancy and there were a bunch of people named Chip and Muffy walking around in pastel colored cardigans . WRONG . Two blocks from Yale there's a ghetto . Two blocks from that is a WORSE ghetto . It's a damn shame to see all of these rich snobby kids spending their parent's money just a short distance from people who would shoot you in the face for twenty bucks . Whatever .
One shining moment of my trip was trhat I got to go to CBGB's in New York City . I'm a HUGE Ramones fan , so to get to visit the place where they started was awsome . They even named the street next to the bar JOEY RAMONE PLACE , for the late , great , punk genius . To make thing's better , they had Yuengling beer , which is my hometown favorite , ON TAP . BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Another misconception was that all New Yorkers are rude , self involved , assholes . NOT true . Practically everybody that I had an opportunity to talk to there was REALLY nice . I was happily surprised . New York ROCKS .
Now a note to update you on my ongoing bizzare bad luck streak ( It's bizarre because it's kind of GOOD luck that turns out bad somehow ) I was in CT for three weeks . THREE . I went out and met a lot of realy cool people there , but NO romance . Something about being away from your home makes you feel like you NEED to hook up . It's weird . Being in a different area gives you a certain freedom that you don't have at home ( And I don't mean cheating on significant others freedom . That's not a good thing ) . I can't explain it . ANYWAY...on my LAST night . I meet this great girl , who strangely enough was originally from Pittsburgh . We had a moment , and then I have to leave . Timing is NOT my strong suit .
Who knows though , maybe things could work out for the future .
A side note to that story...I met two of the coolest gay men EVER at that same bar . We wound up having a discussion on punk music and the finer points of John Waters and Russ Meyer movies . The one guy asked me , after a in depth discussion about the Violent Femmes and the movie Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls , "Are you sure you're NOT gay ? " I said " No . But sometimes I wish I was , gay guys get ALL the chicks " . He thought that was the funniest thing ever .
So I have returned to my town of Pittsburgh , and can go back to my normal life of maintaining my secret identity as mild mannered retail worker by day while secretly plotting to take over the world by night. It's a tough job , but somebody's gotta do it .
