I haven't had any angry rants lately...well , about T.V. anyway . So here we go .
Has anybody else seen the preview for the new reality show " The Swan" ? This is possibly the worst concept for a show since "Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire" . They take a bunch of ordinary women and give them plastic surgery , liposuction , and complete make-overs , so that they have the privelage to be in a BEAUTY CONTEST .
Yay!!!! That's a message that the kids today need to be taught . YOU aren't good enough and people won't like you unless you look like somebody out of Cosmo . Well done , T.V. While we're instilling poor moral values , I've got a few concepts that I'd like to pitch to you . How 'bout we get a bunch of teenagers , get them all hooked on crack , then see which of them can go "Cold Turkey" the longest . Oooooh wait!!!! How's this sound... "Who Wants To Be A Serial Killer " ? Get a bunch of people together and see who can murder the most people before the cops catch them .
Television executives that allow this shit to be broadcast should be tied up and forced to watch their own crap a la Clockwork Orange until the mere thought of putting something so horrendously idiotic on the airwaves makes them violently ill . Then they should be beaten severely just for the fun of it .
While I'm on this rant...Isn't anybody else out there SICK and TIRED of "reality" shows ? Is it just me ? If I want to watch reality I'll go out and sit on my front porch and look around at all of the free reality all over the place . I've SEEN reality , and THAT'S why I watch T.V. Whatever happened to the good old days when I was a youngster and T.V. taught me important life lessons like...Some day you can grow up to have an indestructible talking car and fight bad guys across the land from the back of a big black truck , or...a group of destructive mercenaries that can not only evade the local authorities but also the U.S. military can be found by average people with problems that require their unique brand of explosive , gun blazing justice , and last but certainly not least...it is entirely possible to create a high powered plasma laser out of a paper clip , some chewed bubble gum , a hockey ticket , and some twine .
THOSE were good television shows . THOSE shows made me the man that I am today . Although I still haven't quite been able to get MY plasma laser to work , I just KNOW that it eventually WILL . And when I DO , so help me , things are gonna change around here . This world will be a better , even if slightly charred , place . I SWARE THIS OATH ON MACGUYVER'S MULLET!!!!!
