Lesson of the day: NEVER taunt a police officer!

Let me start at the beginning. I was driving along doing about 55 in a 50 zone when this cop turns off of a side street right in front of me. I slammed on my brakes, layed on the horn and just about ended up t-boning him. He pulls a u-turn, puts on his lights and sirens and pulls me over. He asks if I've been drinking at all (it was midnight on a sat night after all) and I reply that I haven't had anything to drink. Then he asks if I'm on any drugs. By this point I'm quite offended. I get pulled over due to some cops bad driving skills and he assumes it's my problem. I politely tell him that I'm completely sober with NO drugs or alcohol in my system.

Next thing I know, he's demanding I take a breathalizer. I do and of course I pass. Then he searches my car (including the engine) for any drugs. Obviously he didn't find any, due to the fact that I don't do drugs. He then starts lecturing me (ME, the professional driver, the one who has spent the last seven years perfecting her driving skills) about the dangers of driving while not paying attention to the road. I, not so politely inform him that I'm in fact a bus driver and I've driven more miles backwards than most people have forwards and maybe he should consider remedial driving classes. I then add that I used to teach people how to drive buses and I could give him some tips.

He threatened to throw me in jail but because, according to him, he was in a good mood, he's going to let me off with a warning!

That my friends is a prime example of someone abusing their power. Unfortunately, I didn't think to question whether he could search my car without a warrant (he can't), or get his badge number, name or even whether he was a mountie or a cop. I could go through the necessary channels and attempt to seek revenge and get him written up but that's a lot of work and really, they aren't going to do shit all. It's my word against his and he'll always win.
