Timmy Philosophy on friendship and shallow people:
Modern society has a scewed idea of friendship. We seam to think that anyone we know, and see often enough is our friend. Well I refute that notion, and suggest this definition of friendship. A friend is someone whom you not only enjoy the company of on a regular basis, but will also remember 10 years after meeting them, and would like to enjoy their company again in the future, and not only that, but regard them as wanting the same. I could place more standards on what a friend is, but I think that is the bare minimum and we should start to really ask ourselves who we will want to still be around in 10 years, hell even 5 years would be a start. But most people who call me friend, are shallow, and most likely will not seek my company in 5 years. Hell, they probably wont even seek my company in a month when summer hits. If they transfered to a different College, they probably wouldn't give a damn if they talked to me again. I can think of a handfull at best that would, and those are the people I in turn will consider friends and do the same.
and further more on shallowness. People that use the excuse "I don't want to ruin our friendship" or "I only like you as a friend;" they are liars. The truth is, they don't want to have to deal with the awkwardness of seeing you on a day to day basis after having sex with you, and they don't like you enough to make you a "boy/girl" friend. After all, you have to like someone on at least a friend level in order to have a functional relationship with them, thats why the terms boy friend and girl friend exist, and they are differentiated between fuck buddy, and hook up. A buddy is a person you see often that is more than an acquaintanceship and less than a friend, and if you don't feel awkward seeing them everyday after fucking them, they become a fuck buddy. but, back to my point. The reason people can't be honest and tell you to your face that they don't like you, is because they can't deal with the awkwardness, because they are week, shallow, and insecure. They can't risk you not liking them, so they call you a friend, but they also can't risk you developing feelings for them that they don't have... for anyone, so they keep sex out of the equation, and express their physical desires for someone they will most likely never see again, that way they avoid feelings all together. Of course, they most likely do this on a subconscious, instinctual level, their not malicious, most anyway, but they are still week, insecure, and shallow. So be on the look out kids, and next time someone uses this excuse, laugh in their fucking faces and realize your better off with out them. Look for someone stronger than that, someone deeper, someone who wont rely on you for security and attention. and if you just want sex, either stick to porn, prostitutes, strippers, or the classic method of getting insecure girls you don't know, drunk and vulnerable, which ever way your conscience can handle. Me I choose porn and the occasional stripper, cuz every time I try to have a one night stand, I end up wanting to make it 2, then 3 and so on until it just ends badly.
