That is a very good question. Not having too many friends I can say that losing a good friend is like dumped by a loved one. You go through the same emotional process. What I do is I try to find solace in the friends I do have. They will be there to support you and help you through this. What you have to remember is to be a perfect gentleman about this situation, that means no talking bad about the person.
I also turn to books. One book that is always an inspiration is Razors Edge by W. Somerset Maugham. I usually read this book once every six months, just to keep my head focused.
Of course there is also drinking.
