The original Conan books are by Robert E. Howard, which have recently been collected in their original, unedited form:

You can read the original Ace paperbacks, but those were mucked around with, and edited. I've read through the entire cycle of Ace paperbacks three or four times, now.

I did enjoy Seaside. I always love getting away to the coast every now and then, and Seaside is a nice, accessible place to go. Plenty of friendly people in the bars. I always go to Girtle's (Gyrtle's? whatever) and listen to the music, and the dancing is decent, especially if there is a crowd.

Is crack really all that bad up there? I thought meth was all the rage.
