My team, Reading Rugby, spent this St. Patrick's weekend in Savannah, GA at the annual tournament that city holds. About 80 teams competed in 7 divisions. My team was in the Black Division.

We won our division handily, we really only had one tough game that required us to score a try in the waning seconds of the 2nd half to win it. The scores and opponents were:

Reading 22 Ft. Bragg AFB 3
Reading 24 Cleveland Eastern Suburbs 17
Reading 38 Virginia Beach 0

For winning we got a trophy and a case of Foster's Oil can beer, the 25 ounce cans.

I played pretty good. There is always room for improvement and I am taking my weak points and making them stronger. I had a few nasty rucks and a few nasty hits. One of the hits put a guy out for the rest of the tournament and another one would have been a highlight on ESPN. LOL...

We all stayed to see our local college, Albright, beat University of Maryland and we cheered them on like they were our own players. Those kids play their asses off....

The D1 championship was Worchester v. Cincinnati Wolfhounds. We play in D2 for our seasonal play and you can clearly see the difference between D1 and D2. D1 players are in incredible shape...all of them. They have a pool of 50 players to choose from for the games so they are ALL getting in the best shape they can be to hold their starting spot. Worchester won that game, literally on a last second drop kick for a goal.

My one teammate screwed a fat chick on the floor of my hotel room while I was sleeping....she was obese. The worst part that was in the AM she was STILL THERE and he was cuddling with her. So he can't use the drunk excuse for that one. I heisted a keg of beer the first night that was half full and ran with it back to our hotel. That was a sight to see...

The only real problem I had with this weekend was the prices of beer. 12 dollars for pitcher of light beer down on the riverfront is excessive. Oh well, it is a holiday so I guess they can justify that.

I enjoyed the nightlife there was most of us cashed it in early because our games kicked off at 9AM and 10AM on the two days. We were there to win and you really can't play your best when you are hungover.

Sunday night we went to Tybee Island with our beer, some food and had a cookout as a team with our captain's mother-in-law, who lives there. That was a nice relaxing night that was needed instead of trying to fight the people traffic.

We'll be back next year....and I am going to keep training hard.
