I just nipped over the road to get a bottle of wine and when I got home (all of 3 minutes later) there were three dogs running round the street from my house. I caught two, put them back indoors, went to get the third, couldn't catch him so headed home and he followed, got to the end of the drive and they all charged out again. This happened about three times untill the main escapee decided to come back, accompanied by some bloke who lives nearby telling me to controll my dog.
Fair enough but I don't like being blamed for other peoples lack of training.
One of the dogs is mine. He doesn't open doors (as one of them did to let the others out), he stayed on the driveway and when I pointed at the door and said "In" he ran in the house.
Okay, so lesson learned, if I leave the house for even a second I will LOCK the door behind me. But I was crying because I was so scared that the dog was going to get run over, I thanked this bloke over and over again and he just kept shouting at me.
And G's van was in the driveway so now he'll think that she's shit at her job when it was my fault (she wasn't in the house at the time, she's gone to our friends house as her daughter is 3 today).
I can understand it. I'd be pissed off if I was him but I'd never shout at a crying girl on her own doorstep. I know that sometimes (especially when there's fireworks going off in all directions) it is damn near impossible to get a dog to do as it's told. The poor thing was totally freaked by the fireworks so I went and got a lead, some treats and was trying to coax him back. When everyone is juping out their cars and chasing him it doesn't help with the calm him down and get him in the house mission.
Dogs suck.
People suck.
And obviously I suck.
Bah.
