Ok, so i like dancing. Like, A LOT. So was all kinds of down for going to this club, Fur, tonight (my roomate sprung it on me). So we went. Everything seemed to be cool; ther was a lingerie fashion show (bonus), it wasn't too crowded, i actually had room to move and the music was quite good.

But that didn't last. Soon it was...

Hi. Just noticed your profile, and your avatar.

What style of kung fu do you study? I'm always curious to know what other martial artists are doing.
tigerwong:
I do a mish-mash, that my Sifu called "Harmonious Fist." It's tajking pieces of Hung Gar, Wing Chun, Northern Longfist and a little Thai Boxing.

Ok, so on the first page of that thread that unApologetic linked me to, there's this long drawn out explanation of what "emo" is, and basically it's "emotional."
That, i'll cop to. Lord knows i can be emotional from time to time and especially recently with all of my awkward-feeling-ness.

But whatever. Attributing my personality to a genre of music is pretty stupid.

Wow I just ran into your SB set and it was gorgeous. You carry yourself like a dancer. Are you?
tigerwong:
Thanks Olsen!

To answer your question,i *CAN* dance, but i'm not a trained dancer or anything likehtat. I do kung fu though, so that can come off as dance depending on the moves i do. Glad you enjoyed the set!

Quote from yesterday:

"Ok, so you may not be CLINICALLY depressed, but i bet there's a little emo boy inside just clamoring to come out."

What does "emo" mean, anyway?

Seriously. I don't know.
puresauciness:
I don't know who came up with the term, but I hate it. People use it to make fun of the music I listen to. I guess it means emotional or something like that...you know, you have to cut off half the letters in any given word if you want to make it cool wink . Check out this thread. I think there may be some links to emo sites somewhere under all of the crap.

Ok, so i'm home from work. I had to buy a new pair of work pants as soon as i left (to put to use tomorrow) because the ones i've been wearing decided to tear tonight. Seems like every pair of pants i have and actually like wear out in just a few months, I guess it's because i wear them so much, but dangit...

It can be said of many people, even in this era of political correctness, that prejudices abound. For whatever reason, whether it be race, age, sexual orientation, or any number of other classifications they choose to impose, people still feel uneasy around certain others. They'd never claim to be...

scorpio_:
That was really well written. I have a similar situation with my family, only I'm not black. blush

My family is from South Carolina. They're so deep into the south, that they feel the only reason they lost the Civil War was because they ran out of grits. Racism is abundant there, and people discriminate because they were born into that tension. I grew up in Seattle, and we have so much diversity here - sure there is still racism, you get that anywhere - but there isn't the same kind of tension, like what you're talking about in this part of the country. It's hard when I go home to visit the family because I can't stand the terminology they use when referring to African Americans. It makes me feel uncomfortable, and I can't help but think of some members of my family as Red-necks.

It's good that you're able to move past a lot of that negativity from your past. I'm still working on mine, but my family is so far away from me, it's hard to really have an impact on my relationship with them when I only get to see them once a year.

Anyway, have a great day, stud. kiss
